Black Is Beautiful -

Panther Chant from The Black Panther Party for Self Defense

Black is Beautiful

Black is Beautiful

(2x)

The revolution has come (clap clap)

We have only begun

The revolution is here

We must conquer our fear

They got us against the wall

We must remember the call

It's time to take it all back

We are Young, Gifted, and Black

Black is Beautiful

Black is Beautiful

(2x)

We are taking a stand

We got a list of demands

We've started making our plans

We want you to understand

No more Brothers in jail

Free em all

No more Sistas in jail

free em all

No more drugs in our community

Free em all

No more pigs in our community

Free em all

No more schooling to fail

Free em all

No more living in hell

Free em all

The revolution has come

We have only begun

What's the call?

Free em all free em all

What's the call?

Free em all!  (clap, clap)

(2x)

Black is beautiful

Set our warriors free

Free em all.

Black is beautiful

Gotta be what We're born to be

(2x)

I'm an African

In America (4x)

No matter where you come from if your black as long as your black you are an African

(4x)

Black is beautiful

Black is Beautiful

(2x)

Free em all!

Facts:The Black Panther Party for Self Defense 10-Point Program was written by Huey P. Newton and Bobby Seale in 1966 and were separated into “What We Want Now!” and “What We Believe.”

Black is Beautiful started from the Harlem Renaissance in the 1920s and the Negritude movement of the 1930s that argued for the importance of Pan-Africanism.

The term ‘Black is Beautiful’ popularized in the 60s in contradiction to the notion that Black features - skin, hair, facial features - were ugly and undesirable.

Kwame Brathwaite, African-American photojournalist, is known for capturing photographs that helped encourage the Black is Beautiful movement.
