YGB Application

Young Gifted and Black rehearsals happen weekly during the school year from 4:00pm-6:00pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Tuesdays and Thursdays rehearsals are held in Berkeley, while Wednesdays rehearsals are held in Oakland. The commitment is about 4 - 6 hours per week with additional shows on some weekends throughout the year. YGB will be accepting new students for the 23-24 school year, beginning September 2023 - ending June 2024.

Please sit down with your child and walk them through this form. Fill out the form using their specific words and answers. A critical part of this process is having a record of each child demonstrating that they want to be members of YGB. Don’t force it, remember participating in YGB is as much up to them as it is to you. Depending on the age and readiness of the child, each new recruit is put on a temporary probation period to determine if YGB is the right fit. Upon receiving your application you can expect to hear from us within a few weeks about next steps.
