YGB High School Application

Young, Gifted, and Black rehearsals happen weekly during the school year on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30pm-6:30pm. The commitment is about 4-6 hours per week in person with additional expectations of practicing at home and performing throughout the year. YGB is accepting new applications for students to audition to join Black GOLD.

Black GOLD Auditions will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at Oakland School for the Arts in room 269A. Please prepare to perform one song, rap, or poem. It can be an original piece you wrote yourself, or a piece you’ve learned from a Black artist highlighting the feelings of Black love, Black pride, Black community, revolution, liberation, etc.

Please fill out this application in full. A critical part of this process is having a record of each YGB participant demonstrating that they want to be members of YGB. Upon receiving your application you can expect to hear from us within a few days about next steps.
